RAINBOW HOME Introduction ,Historical Background ,Special Features , Development , The Girl Child , Admission Policy, ReintegrationPolicy Pictures of Monsoon MagicThis policy comes into action when girls in any of the houses in Kolkata reach the end of their school career either X or XII or vocational training as the case may be. By then they are aged between 16 and 18 years, and need to be prepared for their entry into society. This involves learning to :- * live in a home setting (transition house) away from school with an adult for guidance. * handle money, use the bank, keep simple accounts and live within a budget. * have the freedom to come and go with minimal supervision * shop for food, clothes, needs of the house and so forth * meet friends, go to parties occasionally, relate to boys without being carried away. * overcome their initial fear of the unknown. The Reintegration Manager is responsible for : * The overall supervision of the new Home (transition house). The actual care of the home is taken over by the girls under her guidance. * The exploration of courses of training or other openings for the girls according to their capacities. * Networking with other organisations, NGOs, especially those who work with women with a view to integrating the girls in her care into other organizations and expanding their experience and contacts. * Helping them to set up their own life after 3 years with her by exploring with them working girls’ hostels, places where they can stay, and helping them to find useful and lucrative careers. It is imperative that they should have regular jobs before they begin to move out into hostels, flats etc. * Several girls may find it useful to share a
flat between them at the end of their time in the transition house,
when they have been gainfully employed. |
